The Hotel is housed in two 18th century buildings. As a lot of buildings in the city centre of Amsterdam, it consist out of a front and back house. This construction is probably mostly known due to the Anne Frank house. Where they hid in the back house during World War II. It is very common in Amsterdam, because the housing tax used to be calculated over the width of a building. Thats why buildings in Amsterdam are narrow, but deep with steep stairs.
