Armory One-Bedroom Cottage

Built by convicted in 1823, one of the first cottages to be built in Tasmania.This original bridge cottage overlooks the historic Richmond Bridge, located in the village, walking distance from historic sites, cafes and shops. The cottage has a sitting room with a wood fire. Complimentary port and chocolates are provided as well as a bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The window in the bedroom faces the bridge. There is a fully equipped country style kitchen, a 2nd living/dining area, a sofa, flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD player and a laundry with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The bathroom has a shower over a bath. There are lovely original floorboards in the sitting room, bedroom and kitchen as well as slate tiles in the 2nd living area with underfloor heating. French door lead out onto the garden and courtyard. Please note that guests receive complimentary port and chocolates upon arrival.

Nestled in tranquil surroundings overlooking the historic Richmond bridge, The Sargeants and Armory Cottages were built by convicts in 1823. One of the first cottages to be built in Richmond and used to house the Sargeant who oversaw the building of the Historic Richmond Bridge which was also constructed in 1823. On entering the cottages the peace of yesteryear enfolds you as you step back in time. The adults-only cottages each feature a wood fire and French doors which open on to a relaxing courtyard. Guests at The Sargeants and Armory Cottages receive complimentary port and chocolates on arrival. Both cottages are comfortable and feature electric heaters and underfloor heating. Each has comfortable queen size beds with electric blankets. The country style kitchens are fully equipped, a second living area has a dining and seating area with a sofa lounge, TV, DVD and CD player. Both cottages have a laundry with a washing machine and clothes dryer and a private bathroom with shower over bath, hairdryer, shampoos and conditioners. Guests can take the short 3-minute walk to local cafés, bakeries and restaurants which are located in and around Richmond city center. Local historical sights such as Richmond Jail and Richmond Catholic Church, which were constructed in the convict era are a 5 minutes' walk away. Hobart International Airport and Hobart CBD are within a 20-minute drive away by car.
