The Mudcastle offers private self-catering accommodations with exclusive use of the entire castle (no other guests while your group is staying, owners live in separate quarters on-site). The property features a sunny terrace, a comfortable lounge area with a baby grand piano, a library, complimentary Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen for your exclusive use. Groups of up to 6 people choose any 4 bedrooms, while groups of up to 16 people can use all 8 bedrooms. Enjoy stunning views of the valley and mountains in the distance all throughout the castle. Please note that due to our rural location we have very limited cell phone coverage. The Mudcastle is just 15 minutes’ drive from Mapua, 25 minutes from Motueka Golf Club, and 35 minutes’ drive from Nelson Airport. Abel Tasman National Park is a 45-minute drive away. The Moutere region southwest of Nelson City is home to many boutique vineyards, craft beer brewers and artists. The Mudcastle has 3 bedroom suites with private bathrooms with large, deep baths and separate showers. Additionally, the castle features 5 bedrooms all sharing 4 additional bathrooms consisting of 4 toilets, 3 showers and 1 bath. Groups of up to 6 people choose any 4 bedrooms, while groups of up to 16 people can use all 8 bedrooms. All rooms have fluffy robes and slippers, complimentary toiletries and towels, heating, and ironing facilities. Our rooms and suites are all individually decorated and offer slightly different facilities as outlined below. External Suites - These suites are located just outside the main castle Room 1 The Peach Suite - With queen bed and private bathroom. This suite has a separate entrance and adjoins the main Castle. It has a kitchenette and small dining area plus a private plunge pool. Tea & coffee facilities are included in this room. Room 2 The Gold Turret - With queen bed and private bathroom. This Suite is located in a separate building away a few steps away from the main Castle and includes its own tea and coffee making facilities. The plush private bathroom with claw foot bath, double vanity and separate shower is located down a spiral staircase. First (Ground) Floor Suite & Rooms - These rooms all offer beautiful views and space to relax with The Rose Suite being the largest. Room 3 The Rose Suite - With a king bed and single bed and private bathroom. Tea & coffee facilities are included in this room. Room 4 The Green Room - With queen bed and shared bathroom facilities. Room 5 The Yellow Room - With double bed and shared bathroom facilities. Room 6 The Pink Room - With queen bed and shared bathroom facilities. Second Floor Rooms Room 7 The Apricot Room - Single bed, shared bathroom facilities. A petite and charming attic room at the top of the Castle accessed via a second staircase. Room 8 The Lilac Room - Twin Single beds, shared bathroom facilities. A slightly larger attic room located at the top of the Castle accessed via a second staircase.
