Hotel Description
Built pre-war in Beaux-Arts architectural design, The Surrey has concluded a $60 million dollar recreation by renowned architectural and interior designer Lauren Rottet. The hotel remains rooted in its turn-of-the-century Upper East Side heritage with ornate limestone facades and marble columns and floors in the lobby. Adding an unexpected twist, the hotel is accented with an eclectic collection of art and custom-designed residential furnishings such as hand-tooled leather on the check-in desk and antique rugs expressed in mosaic tiles.
Evoking a black and white photograph, Rottet used a refined palette of textures, depth and hues of cream, silver, gray, light tobacco and black to provide a timeless stage for the vibrancy each guest brings to the hotel.
